National Grid is hiring a Technical Training Delivery Manager - Safety & Substations for our Group technical training team. This position can be located in either Tipton or Taunton Training Centre.
About The Role
Accountable for the provision of high-quality QMS and legislative compliant technical learning via a team of both internal and external trainers/facilitators. Responsible for the leadership and continued professional development of the internal delivery team and associated resources required to deliver effective learning outcomes, including training centre premises, training assets and resources. Ongoing internal and external stakeholder engagement is essential as is the need to continue to leverage innovative technologies / approaches to learning to meet business units technical learning needs in a cost-effective manner. The role will provide strategic planning and execution, develop challenging departmental goals and objectives, approve, monitor departmental budgets/expenditures, and represent National Grid externally at Professional Body forums.
Key Accountabilities
• Lead Learning Councils with Business Units ensuring clarity on current and future technical learning requirements / demand
• Develop and direct the implementation of goals, objectives, procedures, and work standards for the team
• Leadership and continued professional development of the training delivery team
• Accountability for training centre and training asset Health and Safety compliance, encompassing legislative testing and certification and all maintenance activities to areas related to the team that you lead e.g., S/stns or OHL or Protection & Control ….
• Monitor and analyse performance and financial metrics and utilise that data to make operational decisions required to ensure the success and effectiveness of own team
• Manage external audits and inspections, review outcomes and utilise to drive continuous improvements.
• Compliance with Ofsted and Government Funded Training requirements
• Ongoing communication with the Process & Planning team to ensure requirements of demand plans are actively managed to enable effective resource management and quality delivery.
• Identify additional learning investments to support overall customer business strategy and determine associated costs and develop business cases.
• Management of assessment and internal verification activities associated with Apprenticeship programmes
• Represent National Grid at appropriate external forums, e.g., Energy Utility Skills, Professional Institutions, Contract partner events, awarding bodies, government agencies etc.
• Project lead adhoc technical training projects aligned to emerging business needs
• Accountability for assuring training / delegate centre safety
About You
• Demonstrated leadership / team management capabilities,
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience within a Learning Function
• Knowledge of apprenticeship standards, regulatory frameworks, and safeguarding policies
• NGED Technical and or Safety Authorisation experience
What You'll Get
A competitive salary between £61,000 – £80,000 – dependent on capability
As well as your base salary, you will receive a company car, a bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
