Job Purpose
Are you ready to take your career to the next level in a dynamic and impactful role? National Grid is looking for a motivated and skilled Associate Contract Specialist to join our team! In this exciting position, you will play a crucial role in developing, executing, and managing contracts within the Indirect Goods & Service Category.
As a Associate Contract Specialist, you will be at the forefront of our procurement strategy, working closely with Category Managers to create robust and value-adding contractual partnerships.
What You'll Do
Commercial Mindset: Bring a structured approach to managing a diverse range of contracts and categories, ensuring we maximize value.
Value Opportunities: Develop a keen understanding of commercial opportunities and how to leverage them effectively.
Risk Assessment: Identify contract risks and implement effective mitigation plans to safeguard our interests.
End-to-End Sourcing: Take ownership of strategic sourcing events, ensuring seamless execution from start to finish.
Collaboration: Work alongside dynamic teams and stakeholders to drive innovative solutions and successful contract execution.
Relationship Building: Foster strong relationships with our supply chain and explore new supply markets to enhance our offerings.
Compliance Management: Oversee policies and processes to ensure compliance and audit readiness, driving accountability among suppliers and internal teams.
About You
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- Contract Management Experience: A solid background in contract management, with an understanding of commercial, regulatory, and economic drivers.
- Analytical Skills: The ability to analyze KPIs and contract data to drive performance improvements.
- Relationship Building: Experience in cultivating external relationships to enhance vendor performance and internal relationships with key stakeholders.
- Risk Management: A strong grasp of commercial risks and the ability to mobilize plans for resolution.
- Supplier Evaluation: Experience in assessing supplier capabilities to meet our business needs in the UK.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, including senior management.
- Leadership: Confidence in leading discussions and negotiations, challenging the status quo, and delivering difficult messages with professionalism.
What You'll Get
- Competitive Salary: circa £39,000 – £43,000 per annum (dependent on location, capability, and experience).

This role is offered on a permenant basis.
We are also offering hybrid /flexible working where travel to the office will be as per business need. Base location for this role will be NG House, Warwick.
