Job Purpose

National Grid is experiencing significant transformation to create this digital workspace that will meet the growing needs of our business end users. The Business Enablement Lead – End User Experience will play a crucial role to help fulfil this mandate. Business Enablement is a crucial function within the End User Experience (EUX) team and will play a major role in shaping the way our employees consume and benefit from technology at National Grid.


The primary role entails aligning business needs to technology solutions to deliver a friction-free, efficient, and enjoyable technology experience for our 25,000 end user customers. This is a key role in establishing strategic direction of the EUX Product Portfolio in support of product manager/owner teams, focused to business needs, enterprise architecture and security architecture standards. The Business Enablement Lead will work as the business enablement resource on an EUX product team, interfacing to Infrastructure & Operations architectural and EUX product leadership, technology services, and business representatives. The Business Enablement Lead will ensure that EUX product solutions are delivered with the end user at the forefront of activity by conducting business impact assessments and analysing business readiness ahead of any technology changes in order to provide consultancy regarding Change delivery.


Using Change management methodology and documentation aligned to the Business Enablement Centre of Excellence, to ensure that colleagues know what technology is available to them, that the benefits are fully realised and technology is adopted and utilised in the most effective way. The Business Enablement Lead will be skilled at stakeholder engagement and building relationships, they will also create and implement communications and artefacts as part of their Change management and business enablement plans

Key Accountabilities

•    Thoroughly understand Grid business needs and translate those needs through a comprehensive Business Change and Communications strategy. 
•    Carry out business impact and business readiness assessments to support your Change management approach.
•    Work with the assigned product team to understand technical requirements and provide consultancy regarding approach, including identifying and preparing risk mitigation tactics.
•    Responsible for the creation and implementation of all communications for an EUX product team.
•    Analyse knowledge gaps and create artefacts to build digital capabilities across the organisation.
•    People-centric focussed, you will provide expertise on the people side of technology changes; including the development of end-to-end product and service delivery design from initiation to support, continual service improvement, establishing key measures of success, and optimizing delivery via digital methods of provisioning, operations, and support. 
•    Participate in early project or product ideation, consulting, and estimating. 
•    Business Enablement liaison into other EUX product towers and other I&O delivery towers such as directory services, network, cloud.
•    Participate with the Business Enablement Centre of Excellence touchpoints to ensure alignment across the product towers.
•    Manage stakeholders in line with agreed stakeholder plan.
•    Support and engage senior leaders in across business areas via IT Business Partners and Strategic Director (SDs) cohort
•    Defining and measuring success metrics and monitoring change progress.
•    Adopt the NG/EUX digital product delivery and end-user experience vision, contribute to their improvement, challenge inefficiencies and deliver to business outcomes.
•    Be a champion of the MVP concept, distilling the product down to what is desirable, viable and feasible.



•    4+ years experience at a Business Change manager level and knowledge of Change principles, best practices, and frameworks such as ADKAR, Kotter, Bridges etc. 
•    Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships.
•    Gravitas with stakeholders at all levels with the ability to influence others to move toward a common vision or goal.
•    Experience in other service delivery functions and domains such as engineering, operations, support in networking, data centre, distributed compute, cloud, etc, is helpful.
•    A demonstrated and focused desire to build powerful, simple, well-designed products and services that employees will love to use
•    An ability to think strategically and creatively, with the capacity for self-motivation, independent initiative and creative problem-solving.
•    Superior interpersonal and communication skills, writing clear and concise proposals, diagrams and presentations appropriate for executive staff or engineering.
•    The ability to discern priority, manage time and schedules for self and staff to meet aggressive deadlines and influence through persuasive written and verbal communication
•    A diligent attention to detail and strong technical intuition, as well as the ability to set and manage expectations at the executive level.
•    Acute business acumen and understanding of organisational issues and challenges.


What You'll Get

A competitive salary between £49,000 – £73,000 per annum– dependent on capability

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
