About the role


Gas System Operator (GSO) is evolving and navigating through an exciting time. We are looking for a Capacity Auction Analyst to join our System operations team who will:


  • To support and run the EU and GB processes associated to the sale of NTS entry and exit capacity in line with contractual and regulatory obligations to meet customer requirements and optimise incentive outcomes. 
  • Provide customer interface to industry on all capacity processes.


As the Capacity Auction Analyst, you’ll create and deliver long/medium term entry capacity auctions accurately and on time in accordance with UNC and licence obligations, with support from the Senior Capacity Auction Analyst as necessary.


As part of your day to day basis, you’ll carry out enduring exit capacity application processes and ad-hoc application processes accurately and on time, including external correspondence, accurate allocation and publication of results in accordance with UNC and licence obligations.

Key Accountabilities


  • Ensure all processes the NTS Capacity Team are accountable for are reviewed, updated and approved in accordance with agreed timescales.
  • Manage timely and accurate issuance of auction invitation letters, allocation and publication of auction results in accordance with UNC and licence obligations.
  • Prepare and execute testing if required for any system developments in accordance with the established process and agreed scenarios. Ensuring that results are checked and validated by senior members of the capacity auction team.
  • Prepare and specify key parameters of auctions, applications and tenders which are critical to our customers and a successful auction.
  • Provide analytical support to enable NGG to discharge licence and UNC Mod obligations, and develop strategies in relation to the entry and exit regime.
  • Develop skills and build capability to handle more complex cases and customer queries independently or with minimal oversight, obtaining support from the Senor Capacity Auction Analyst as necessary.  


What you'll need


  • Strong problem solving & analytical skills

  •  A proven background delivering within a fast paced, high performing area. 

  • Understanding of the gas industry and its frameworks

  • Experience in using customer research alongside data to quickly understand what makes commercial sense and to present commercial findings 

  • Educated to HNC  or equivalent in a relevant field - preferably

What you'll get


A competitive salary between £33,000 – £42,000 dependent on capability


As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
