National Grid is hiring a Commissioning and Compliance Manager based in our Warwick, London, Bristol or Leeds office.

About the role

 

In this role you will lead a team of Compliance Managers, Commissioning Coordinators and Outage Planners to deliver National Grid Electricity Transmission’s (NGET) obligations under the STC in respect of new connections (BP130).

 

You will coordinate with our Asset Operations commissioning teams to develop commissioning strategies, align/prioritise the availability of commissioning equipment and resources and support the commissioning panels (BP106) for customer connection projects and support the project teams to identify their system access needs, administrate the requesting of system access for customer connections and coordinate with Network Optimisation and Intelligence Portfolio Planners to secure system access needs with NESO.

 

Your team will be involved in all User connection works that have triggered the issue of a Transmission Owner Connection Offer (TOCO) by National Grid to the National Electricity System Operator (NESO).

 

This is a new role and the successful applicant will be required to build their team to deliver upon the requirements above.

What you'll do

 

  • Represent/appoint representatives of NGET as TO Lead compliance representatives for new connections compliance defined under STCP19-3. Responsibilities as a TO Lead Representative include:
    • Act as a lead point of contact for NGET with the NESO Contracts Compliance Team on a project specific and / or holistic capacity.
    • Represent NGET at the Operational Notification Panel (ONP) meetings.
    • Coordinate the NGET departments to review the NESO Users Data File Structure (UDFS) submissions and administrate the collation and return and response of comments until closed
    • Administrate the evidencing and record keeping of compliance approval by NGET with respect to this process
    • Coordinate the completion of the TO compliance monitoring statement
    • Accountable for the provision of NGETs authorisation to NESO ahead of the issue of any operational notifications to the User.

 

  • Build effective relationships with Asset Operations and supply chains to coordinate the allocation of commissioning test equipment and commissioning resources across projects.
  • Support the development of project commissioning strategies and the identification of system access requirements for project delivery.
  • Support the commissioning panel teams during project delivery
  • Identify project system access needs, administrate the requests and coordinate with Network Optimisation and Intelligence Portfolio Planners to secure system access needs with NESO.
  • Lead/be a lead contributor towards the continuous improvement of processes, procedures and functions in respect of all the above.

What you'll need

 

  • Knowledge of relevant industry codes including the SO-TO Code (STC) and Connection and Use of System Code (CUSC)
  • Experience of successful management of commissioning processes and activities in the Electricity Industry
  • Experience of the new connections compliance process in the Electricity Industry
  • Ability to communicate issues associated with area of expertise in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of gaining a high degree of credibility and influencing teams
  • Driven with a strong motivation for continuous improvement
