About The Role
Brand New Role – Permanent – Warwick / Hybrid Working

In this new position as Cost Engineer, you will help design and implement the portfolio-level Cost Management discipline in line with the Portfolio Controls framework, aligning with the Strategic Infrastructure (SI) BMS to enable consistent, transparent, and accurate cost information. You will support the delivery of the ASTI portfolio, which is a multi billion £ group of more than 20 Great Grid Upgrade projects.
This role is based at our Warwick office which has free onsite parking, and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home.
Leveraging this hybrid working, this team current work typically 2 day per week in the office, which is dependent on personal and business needs. Flexibility is available around this if needed.

About You

- Is knowledgeable about UK infrastructure project development stages, including pre-construction activities (consenting, design, development)
- Understands cost control for large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Has working knowledge of cost management systems (e.g., Unifier, Ecosys), financial management systems (e.g., SAP), and proficiency in MS Excel.
Additionally you’ll likely have proven analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work in complex matrix environments and experience in creating or maintaining cost estimates for infrastructure projects.

What You'll Do
- You’ll be responsible for maintaining a central estimating repository, ensuring that all key information related to the latest estimate iterations is accurately registered and easily accessible
- You will support Level 2 assurance reviews in line with SI BMS processes and minimum standards.
- Supporting the implementation of Cost Estimating and Control you will apply processes across the SI portfolio.
- Engaging with a diverse range of internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with cost management minimum standards.
- Supporting Onshore and Offshore PMO by providing guidance and direction to project teams to ensure maturity and consistency.
- Tracking relevant actions resulting from assurance review processes, you’ll work closely with practitioners to ensure actions are taken accordingly.
- You will take responsibility for the master data structure, which mainly consists of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS), and relevant reporting structures, keeping it updated in line with the latest changes.
- Assisting in the development of Cost Systems and Reports, you’ll ensure these are aligned in delivering project and portfolio objectives.
- You’ll work closely with stakeholders across a matrix environment including Programme and Project Management Offices, Estimators, Commercial Team, Investment Accountants, Finance Business Partners, Project Risk and Planning Team
What You'll Get
A competitive starting salary between £52,000 – £61,000 dependent on capability.
