National Grid is hiring a Data Culture & Engagement Lead  - This position will be based from our Warwick office - Hybrid Working model (working schedule is negotiable).

Job Purpose

 

The Data Culture & Engagement Lead will be responsible for embedding a strong, inclusive, and value-driven data culture across the organisation. This role will champion data literacy, foster behavioural change, and ensure that data becomes a core part of how decisions are made, and value is delivered. Working across business units, the role will be to design and implement initiatives that elevate awareness, engagement, and accountability around data.

What you'll do

 

Culture Strategy & Design

 

  • Drive the organisation’s data culture vision in alignment with strategic goals.
  • Translate data values into observable, measurable behaviors.
  • Develop a data culture playbook and behavioural guidelines.
  • Partner with HR and L&D to embed data culture into onboarding, performance, and leadership frameworks.

 

Engagement & Enablement

 

  • Manage data communities to promote grassroots advocacy.
  • Design and deliver campaigns, events, and storytelling initiatives that celebrate data success.
  • Collaborate with the Data Academy and other learning teams to scale data literacy pathways
  • Support the development of communities of practice (e.g. Data Guilds, CoPs).

 

Measurement & Continuous Improvement

 

  • Define KPIs and metrics to assess data culture maturity and behavioural adoption
  • Conduct regular surveys, focus groups, and assessments to track progress.
  • Use insights to iterate and improve cultural interventions.
  • Report on cultural health to senior leadership and governance forums.

 

Leadership Coaching & Change Management

 

  • Coach leaders and managers to be role models of data-driven behaviours
  • Provide tools and frameworks for teams to assess and improve their data culture.
  • Support change initiatives that require shifts in mindset, habits, and collaboration.

About you

 

  • Proven experience in communications and engagement, with a strong focus on driving cultural change within an organisation.
  • Background in change management, with the ability to support the business in becoming more data literate and data-driven.
  • Familiarity with data concepts is advantageous, but not essential; a passion for fostering a data culture is key.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills, with a track record of building relationships and influencing at all levels of the organisation.
  • Experience in developing and implementing behaviour guidelines and roadmaps for cultural transformation, particularly in relation to data literacy.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data concepts into relatable and actionable insights for diverse audiences.
  • Creative thinker who can design and deliver engaging campaigns, events, and initiatives that promote data success and grassroots advocacy.
  • Comfortable working in a matrixed, cross-functional environment, with experience in IT communications or change management roles being highly desirable.
  • Empathetic communicator with the ability to inspire and motivate others, fostering an inclusive and collaborative culture.

What you'll get

 

A competitive salary– £70,000 - £80,000 DOE

 

As well as your base salary, a bonus of up to 30% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
