About us

National Grid Ventures is in the midst of an existing journey of digital transformation to enable innovation to reshape the energy system. We are rapidly building and expanding our data-driven organisation to support several existing and new initiatives across our business units in low-carbon and clean energy. Candidates for this role will be motivated by our mission to make a cleaner, fairer, and safer energy future, passionate about using data to achieve this transformation. This role will be working alongside incredible colleagues across the business, and will be supported by both the transformation office and Chief Data Officer to educate, advocate and implement change.

About the role

The Data Governance Manager will play a vital role in maximising the value of data at National Grid Ventures. You will work closely with colleagues across the various NGV businesses to ensure that data users have the right tools to ensure that they can answer their data questions in an efficient and compliant manner so that business outcomes can be achieved at pace.
We use product thinking across our business and create data products that are available, fully described, and trusted so that business problems can be solved. To create these requires dynamic data governance that ensures data is fully documented, has ownership assigned, is made available in a secured fashion, and has an applicable level of quality.
In order to maximise the value we get from data and the digital products we build, we need a hands-on Data Governance Manager who will work to improve observability and usability of data within our organisation. You’ll drive these outcomes – designing and deploying the most appropriate solution for our business context, such as the development of an Enterprise Data Catalogue

  • Monitoring and reporting on data quality and governance across NGV
  • Promoting data literacy and best practice within the organisation
  • Contributing to the development and delivery of innovative, data-driven digital products
