About the role
The Business Planning Lead plays a crucial role in orchestrating data-driven business planning for AO, ensuring effective collaboration among stakeholders, and analysing and justifying costs for comprehensive and accurate business plans.
To develop a plan that not only reflects AO requirements but also incorporates the deliverability outcomes and aligned with regional/site strategies, ASTI, NOA, key customer connections, critical asset health work necessary to meet net zero.
Key Responsibilities of Business Planning Lead
- Data Gathering and Business Plan Creation:
- Support the coordination of the gathering of data for business planning purposes.
- Collate and manage comprehensive business plans for the department.
- Working with stakeholders to establish a traceable data set which provides internal and external transparency and understanding
- Plan Tracking and Management:
- Monitor and track changes to the business plan from its initial position.
- Understand the outcomes delivered by the business plan
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with departmental stakeholders, including finance, PCR team, and other relevant functions.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration to develop business plans and regulatory submissions.
- Reporting and Approval:
- Generate reporting packs summarizing business plans for presentation to the Executive team.
- Provide expertise and detailed knowledge of the business plan and support approval and sign-off process.
OFGEM interactions – representing the NGET AO at cross industry workshops for submission establishing a transparent and cooperative relationship to support the long-term success of the business
What you'll be doing
The role will be accountable for providing high quality planning information to UK Regulation and/or Ofgem under challenging timescales throughout the submission process/price control review period.
- Creating and defining business plan information needed for the T3 Business Plan, including (but not limited to) volumes, costs, narrative, justification, asset/project specifics etc.)
- Challenging and ensuring accuracy of planning information provided by other business units
- Collaborating across all areas of ET (NSO, NI, AO, CC, Finance, IT, SI) to gather intelligence and data for the business plan
- Supporting the approval required from AO for submission
- Identifying data and system gaps and working with AO teams and ET Data Products team to resolve
- Challenge cost data for AO units and understand impact of application of price changes to plan
- Creating summary reporting of AO Business Plan for AO review
- Working closely with AO T3 and virtual team to establish a complete business plan
- Representing the business plan function of NGET with Ofgem, where required, as part of the future Price Control process.
- Ensuring the plan data and documents are fully traceable to facilitate Ofgems submission consideration
What you'll need
- Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks in T2 and future proposals
- Proficient knowledge of data and systems managing Investment and Operating costs data
- Expert analytical and data management skills
- Proficient technical knowledge of the Electricity Transmission System and the constituent assets
- Skilled at stakeholder engagement and presenting to audiences
- Expert at producing performance reports, and creating information and metrics to support visual management
- An appetite for continuous improvement in relation to personal development
- Relevant STEM degree or equivalent qualifications or experience
