About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for somebody to join our Emergency & Incident Framework team based in our Warwick offices

To lead planning activities to provide capabilities to manage Network Gas Supply Emergencies (NGSE) and support the Network Emergency Coordinator (NEC) in the fulfilment of their duties


  • Define strategy and arrangements for industry NEC emergency exercises with respect to frequency, content, breadth, level and spread of external engagement  
  • Run annual industry emergency exercise and any additional exercises that are defined, ensuring that the exercise plan is followed and that participants carry out their roles appropriately. 
  • Define actions and recommendations for improvement for internal and external parties following completion of emergency exercises and put in place strategy and processes to ensure they can be delivered. 
  • Carry out routine engagement with BEIS and HSE to confirm NEC exercise arrangements and content, and share feedback and learning points following exercise completion. 
  • Define developments to NEC safety case and supporting industry arrangements that are required to drive improvements and engage with stakeholders to carry through external processes 
  • Define training strategy for the nominated members of the Network Emergency Management Team to ensure GSO can meet its obligations  
  • Carry out regular engagement with all relevant industry parties to ensure obligations are understood and that process and communications requirements are agreed.

About You

Degree in a technical or numerate subject preferred or equivalent experience, plus an understanding of
National Grid’s emergency arrangements and knowledge of safety case and associated obligations.

Key Skills Requirements:

  • Knowledge of gas transmission business and associated statutory and commercial obligations
  • Experience working with customers and stakeholders in an operational environment
  • Experience of working with HSE or other relevant regulatory bodies
  • Knowledge of national grid safety cases and associated processes and procedures

What You'll get

A competitive salary between £38,300 – £42,999 – dependent on capability
