We’re looking for a passionate Finance Entity Controller to join our UK Controllership team! You will be preparing and assuring the results for the Electricity (ET) or Strategic Infrastructure (SI) Business Unit, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and completeness the financials. Additionally, you will be delivering the required financial reporting outputs, building strong connections and outputs with the business services function.

 

This role is based out of our Warwick office, and we’d hope to see you 2-3 days per week but you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!

What You'll Do:

  • Ensuring accuracy, integrity and completeness of actuals and relevant interim and year end disclosures, including income statement, balance sheet and cashflow statement and all associated disclosures.

  • Managing all ET or SI BU financial reporting.

  • Build strong relationships across finance and the BUs to ensure financial deliverables and timescales are agreed and adhered to.

  • Prepare insightful narrative on key financial reports and BU operational reports.

  • Support the delivery of change across finance and the business, role-modelling new ways of working and owning delivery of key outcomes to drive the improvement of long-term business capability.

  • Proactively seek opportunities to drive continuous improvement in processes through the implementation of best practice, drawing on external sources and internal references, to drive increased value for National Grid.

  • Managing and owning the production of balance sheet reviews, technical accounting and judgement papers, board, and audit committee papers.

  • Managing high quality inputs to the regulatory reporting pack through liaison with the Regulation team, Business Services function, Finance and FBPs to ensure smooth integration of deliverables into business submissions.

  • Act as a key point of contact to leaders on all matters relating to BU Financial actual performance and plans, as well as to the external auditors (Deloitte).

  • Responsible for ensuring financial controls are enacted and refreshed according to latest financial risk assessments.

  • Managing a team of three finance professionals, motivating the team to produce high quality outputs and remain committed to their professional development

 

What You'll Have:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA etc).

  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Governance, Risk and Internal Control Framework.

  • Financial Modelling.

  • Planning, Forecasting and Budgeting.

  • Proactive self-starter with ability to manage own and team workload, to time and desired levels of quality.

  • Ability to challenge the status quo.

  • Experience in reporting financial information.

  • Prior line management experience.

What You'll Get:

£65,000 - £75,000 depending on experience.
