National Grid is hiring a Group Health and Wellbeing Manager - This position is based from our Warwick office - offering a Hybrid Working policy.

Job Purpose

 

The Group Health and Wellbeing Manager is a strategic leadership position responsible for shaping and driving National Grid’s health and wellbeing agenda across the organisation. This role ensures that policies and operational strategies align with business needs and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities include providing expert advisory support to UK and US business units, integrating wellbeing into workforce strategies, and developing innovative employee support programmes. The role also oversees policy development, corporate health initiatives, occupational health services, and data-driven wellbeing interventions.

Additionally, the Group Health and Wellbeing Manager influences leadership engagement to embed health and wellbeing within corporate governance and business priorities, driving continuous improvement and measuring impact.

What you'll do

 

  • Lead the development and governance of Group-wide health and wellbeing policies and strategies, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and compliance with industry best practices.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of wellbeing risk management frameworks, providing independent assurance of business unit programmes and ensuring adherence to Group policies.
  • Act as the subject matter expert, advising business units and facilitating collaboration through group-wide networks to promote best practices in health and wellbeing.
  • Develop and implement digital reporting tools and performance dashboards to monitor health trends and generate data-driven insights for proactive intervention strategies.
  • Manage occupational health services, employee assistance programmes, and third-party health service providers, ensuring alignment with business needs and legal compliance.
  • Champion inclusive wellbeing practices and integrate health and wellbeing into leadership behaviours and corporate development programmes.
  • Engage with external regulators and industry networks to ensure National Grid remains at the forefront of health and wellbeing innovation and compliance.

About you

 

  • Proven experience in developing and delivering health and wellbeing governance frameworks, policies, and strategies at a corporate level.
  • Strong expertise in occupational health risk management, programme design, and governance assurance.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement digital health solutions, reporting tools, and analytics frameworks.
  • Knowledge of UK and US health and wellbeing legislation, including occupational health regulations and mental health standards.
  • Experience in developing safety and health training programmes, including leadership engagement initiatives.
  • Strong ability to influence senior stakeholders, ensuring health and wellbeing is integrated into decision-making.
  • Proven track record in managing third-party service contracts, occupational health providers, and EAP partnerships.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., ISO 45003, ISO 45001), ESG reporting, and workforce wellbeing analytics.
  • Additional qualifications in occupational health, psychology, wellbeing, or related fields.
  • Experience in regulated industries or multinational corporate environments.
  • Background in behavioural change programmes related to workforce health and safety.
  • Membership in a recognised professional body (e.g., CIPD, IOSH, BACP).

What you'll get

 

A competitive salary– £70,000 - £80,000 DOE

 

As well as your base salary, you will receive a company car or allowance, a bonus of up to 20% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
