Head of Engineering & Innovation

We are looking for an exceptional engineering leader to drive the strategic direction of engineering, technology, and innovation across National Grid's Strategic Infrastructure division. This role is at the heart of delivering Net Zero, transforming how we develop electricity transmission infrastructure for the future.

What's in it for you?

£75,000 p.a. to £95,000 p.a. plus 20% Annual performance bonus & annual salary benchmarking

What you'll be getting up to

Set the Engineering Standards - define, coordinate, and implement best practices across early-stage development of onshore and offshore infrastructure projects.

Drive Innovation - develop and execute an industry-leading Innovation Strategy & Roadmap, integrating the latest technology and process advancements.

Shape Asset Management - ensure seamless alignment with National Grid's Asset Management Strategy, driving certification, assurance, and long-term resilience.

Lead a High-Performing Team  - recruit, develop, and inspire a team of expert engineers and innovators, creating a culture of collaboration and curiosity.

Build Strategic Partnerships - engage with internal teams, industry leaders, and external partners to position National Grid as an innovation leader.

About you

Chartered Engineer with deep expertise in large-scale infrastructure and asset management.

Proven experience leading technical and engineering teams within regulated environments.

Strong knowledge of the UK energy system, its challenges, and future opportunities.

Ability to influence, challenge, and drive forward-thinking engineering and innovation strategies.

A visionary leader passionate about sustainability, technology, and transformation.
