Head of Strategic Commercial Performance - 12 month FTC
Warwick, GB, CV34 6DA
About the role
Head of Strategic Commercial Performance (12 month Fixed Term Contract)
The way we power our lives is changing. As the UK moves away from fossil fuels and increases clean energy generation, we’ll need significant new infrastructure in order to connect this renewable energy from where it’s generated to where it’s needed.
That’s why National Grid Strategic Infrastructure (SI) is developing and constructing a series of HVDC projects along the east coast of Great Britain. These projects play a vital part in achieving the UK Government’s ambition of connecting 50GW of offshore wind by 2030.
As a Head of Strategic Commercial Performance, you'll act as the senior focal point for portfolio commercial strategy and performance related matters; collaborating with the Commercial Leadership Team, wider National Grid and Partners to facilitate effective communication, alignment, and decision-making. You will have a strong track record of developing commercial strategies, credibility with stakeholders and influencing skills.
As part of the role, you'll oversee commercial portfolio KPI development, performance, and workforce planning across the Commercial function. You'll lead in driving strategic alignment between commercial and the wider SI / NG business. Leading the definition and implementation of a coherent commercial strategy at a portfolio level to collate, harmonise, and translate inputs into clear strategic messages, to build consensus around priorities and solutions.
This role is based from Warwick, and you can enjoy our hybrid working from office and home. You'll be flexible to travelling to project sites as required.

- A strategic thinker with practicality and motivation for long-term results is essential. Demonstrate unwavering integrity and personal accountability.
- Ability to challenge others in a constructive manner; a willingness and openness to receiving similar challenge. When it comes to communication you know how to engage your audience and tailor your outputs accordingly.
- You are numerate and analytical, able to quickly cut through complexity, understand materiality, and articulate critical success factors and value to others.
- Comfortable working in a matrix organisation with multiple stakeholders to facilitate cross functional teams which operate collaboratively and innovatively.
