We have an exciting opportunity for a driven and motivated Financial Reporting Accountant! 

 
As a key member of our Controllership team, you’ll provide sound technical accounting expertise and guidance for our National Grid Electricity Business (NGET) to support the integrity of external reporting and the control environment. You’ll be a key point of contact to our external auditors and will present our position, findings and associated technical arguments. You will also support the Controllership team with the monthly routine of this significant UK business.

 
We’d hope to see you in the Warwick office at least two days per week but you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!


 

What You'll Do:

  • Responsible for sound technical accounting guidance and support for the business - including complex areas of accounting and reporting.
  • Oversee the implementation of new accounting requirements such as accounting standards, reporting requirements and disclosures for NGET plc. Ensuring that the business remains up to date and compliant and is demonstrating best practice.
  • Act as a key contact with the external auditors, presenting the business’ position, findings and associated technical arguments.
  • Maintain key accounting policies and judgements for the business.
  • Support the completeness, integrity, and accuracy of the external financial statements for NGET and assist with the overall UK statutory reporting process working with the CFO, Lead Controller, and   Business Services (shared service centre)
  • Support the delivery of month end, half year and year-end financial statements and disclosures, including any investigations and analysis of variances.

What You'll Have:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA) with Financial Statement Reporting preparation of Statutory Accounts and technical accounting principles (IFRS) experience. 
  • Experience performing accounting research, you can interpret and relate changes quickly and prep technical accounting papers. 
  • Ability to prepare and articulate complex financial topics and disclosures to the external accountants. 
  • Team player, always willing to support the team and provide input to develop a comprehensive and consistent view of the financial position of the Business for Financial Reporting 
  • Commercial and technical acumen 
  • Knowledge of governance, risk and controls and compliance standards, ideally SOx 
  • Able to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including internal and external auditors.
  • Business Software and Applications including SAP, ICON and Workiva are beneficial.

What You'll Get:

£50,000 - £55,000 per annum - dependent on experience.
