National Grid is hiring a Lead Networks Engineer on a permanent basis. The this role is based in our Warwick office - We offer a hybrid working model.
Job Purpose
Our vision is to be recognised as a world leading Information Technology and Digital function in the energy sector and a trusted partner across National Grid businesses. This role will ensure that IT Infrastructure and Operations maintains internal technical knowledge and engineering and operational integrity across the service portfolio and the various suppliers of IT services to National Grid business from current to future state. Further to ensure the alignment and assurance across the designs underpinning the service offerings with the portfolio.
What you'll do
• Ownership for establishing the governance model to ensure DDI and F5 service reliability and functional requirements are complied with and any residual risks are accepted and recorded.
• Responsible for lifecycle management of Infoblox DDI and F5 platform ensuring sufficient system capacity, all OS and application software is up to date, free of security risks and provides the latest functionality
• F5 Device configuration and Management.
• Design and implement high availability load balancing solutions for applications and services.
• Monitoring of traffic flows, performance metrics and device health.
• Allocates IP addresses and DNS names for the operational environment and key programs, collaborates with Engineering and Delivery teams on their specific requirements.
• In-depth knowledge and working experience with Infoblox or similar DDI platforms and the infrastructure lifecycle management for the technology.
• The development of IP address schemes for large scale organizations and data centers. The socialization of these IP address schemes to all suppliers and operations and delivery teams.
• Support the delivery of automated DDI services to Microsoft Azure and other cloud services to provide DNS and DHCP services to infrastructure as it is provisioned.
• Deliver Infoblox and F5 automation with ServiceNow to automate service requests.
• Development, implementation and delivery of DDI and F5 reports for operations and project teams.
• Develops own ideas, or the ideas of others, making all the necessary observations and tests and carrying them through to a full practical demonstration, wherever viable and feasible. Where necessary, designs data collection tools and techniques for both qualitative and quantitative data.
• Identifies and responds to the key business drivers and those areas of business need which are not adequately supported by current environment, within the strategic planning time frame.
About you
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues and suppliers in different time zones.
• Strong F5 Design, configuration and management experience, accreditation deesireable.
• Experience designing and implementation DDI infrastructure solutions applying standard engineering and technology delivery within solution designs.
• Infoblox Core DDI Accreditation or equivalent is desirable
• Knowledge of DDI management and reporting tools
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work in fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, pay attention to detail, and deliver high-quality results.

A competitive salary between £63,000 - £76,000 dependent on capability
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
