Management Accountant - 9 Month FTC

We’re looking for a passionate 2x Management Accountant – 9 Month FTC to join our UK Accounting Operations team! The Accounting Operations team is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate Record to Report (RTR) financial processing for National Grid entities, partnering with the Finance Controllership team to ensure precise financial reporting. They ensure that the processing and controls around month-end close are completed accurately and in a timely manner while serving as a key point of contact for stakeholders within the business. The team reviews processes end-to-end, implements improvements as needed, and builds a strong understanding of the implications and outputs of each process. Additionally, they ensure that all financial entries are processed correctly, leading to complete and accurate financial information and reporting, while also managing, developing, and supporting direct reports, including graduates and apprentices.
This role is based out of our Warwick office, and we’d hope to see you at least two days per week but you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!
What You'll Do
- Ensure accounting entries are appropriately classified in accordance with internal policy, accounting standards, nature of expenditure or form of control.
- Role model service as a key part for all processes, ensure service offering is provided in a way that is reliable, responsive and easy to deal with.
- Management of external auditors and plan, including investigating and responding to queries from external auditors and internal finance/tax colleagues.
- Proactively identify and deliver process improvements to ensure the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions.
- Continuous review and refinement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
- Engage proactively with offshore managed provider to manage the close timetable and ensuring processes are executed in accordance with relevant SoX and business controls.
What You'll Have
- Part/Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc).
- Experience of major accounting systems, budgeting and forecasting, financial performance reporting and engagement with business management, preferably in a large, international corporate setting.
- Experienced with SAP/S4 and SAP analytics Cloud would be advantageous.
- Business Capabilities – Commerciality/Customer/Data management/ Stakeholder management.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Strong ownership to support implementation of the new financial processes through to successful conclusion.
- Strong communication skills including ability to clearly articulate what is required by whom and by when.
- Ability to positively influence behaviours of all involved in the electricity projects financial processes, both finance and non-finance.
- Ability to work well under own initiative and within wider team.
- Good levels of Excel and data manipulation skills.
