National Grid is hiring a Manager Regulatory Reporting for our ET department in Warwick.
About The Role
As Manager Regulatory Reporting, you will be at the heart of ensuring National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) has in place the systems and processes to be able to report – both formally and informally – to Ofgem on the delivery of our price control settlement and more broadly to be able to demonstrate to internal and external stakeholders that we have delivered the critical outcomes from our investments and are creating value for consumers.
Overseeing, coordinating and leading the reporting activities carried out across the ET Regulation team, you’ll provide assurance and reporting, alongside expert advice to business areas in understanding regulatory issues and requirements. These may include external regulatory requests, legal advice, or internal sanctioning guidance on regulatory matters.
A key part of the role will be to work with the Head of Regulatory Performance to design and embed a new approach to regulatory reporting across NGET. As part of this you will:
- Lead the annual Regulatory Reporting Pack (RRP) process.
- Develop a new ongoing reporting approach and support the associated engagement with Ofgem.
- explore the potential opportunities for further digitisation opportunities for our reporting processes.
- Develop thinking and help design our approach to T2 close out and incorporating T2 learnings into the RIIO T3 price control review process
You will work with colleagues in the team and provide advice on a range of ad hoc issues relating to the regulatory framework, the electricity transmission licence and output delivery incentives (ODIs). You’ll be a key interface externally with our regulator, Ofgem, and stakeholder like the IUG, and internally you’ll liaise with key colleagues, monitoring risks and opportunities and ensuring the business can evidence change justification. You will also work closely with the ET Regulation Director and Head of Regulatory Performance in a culture / behaviour change initiative to try and rest our relationship with Ofgem. Improved ongoing and formal regulatory reporting will play an important foundation for achieving this reset.
About You
We are looking for a versatile, capable and enthusiastic person:
- Experience of managing regulatory and/or commercial issues, preferably in energy, you’ll have an understanding of the RIIO-2 regulatory framework, including the transmission licence. You’ll also understand regulatory and business data and systems, and cost data structures.
- Comfortable with numerical data, you’ll be able to translate information into a compelling business case, and have the ability to communicate in a clear, structured and engaging manner.
- Relationship building skills and an ability to work with and influence leaders within an organisation, and engage effectively at multiple levels across an organisation. You will be securing the inputs of more than 100 people across ET to deliver an effective RRP process, most of whom are outside of the Regulation team
- Excellent communication skills, with an ability to convey complex strategic ideas and proposals to a wide range of audiences in a structured and logical way, through both written and verbal forms.
- Problem solving and strong analytical skills are needed, including an ability to consider qualitative and quantitative factors when making recommendations.
- Experience of managing a team and developing staff

A competitive salary between £80,000 – £94,000 – dependent on capability
