Job Purpose

The Release Train Engineer purpose is to manage and optimize the flow of value through the ART using various tools, such as the Program Kanban, along with establishing and communicating the annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs).

 

They will facilitate PI Planning readiness by fostering a Continuous Exploration process that drives the synthesis of a Vision, a Roadmap, and Backlogs, and through Pre- and Post-PI Planning events, as well as facilitating the PI planning event.

 

They will also assist in tracking the execution of features and capabilities, facilitate the periodic synchronization events, including the ART sync, assist with economic decision-making by facilitating feature and capability estimation by teams and the roll-up to Epics, where necessary.

 

Work with Product and Solution Management, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment and improve the flow of value through value streams by improving and assessing the practices associated with DevOps and Release on Demand in the Continuous Delivery Pipeline.

  • Competency Assessment - Assessing knowledge, skills, competency and behaviours by any means, whether formal or informal, against frameworks such as SFIA. 
  • Release and Deployment – Applying the processes, systems and functions required to make new and changed services and features available for use. 
  • Employee Experience, enhancing employee engagement and ways of working, empowering employees and supporting their health and wellbeing. 
  • Organisational Facilitation, supporting workgroups to implement principles and practices for effective teamwork across organisational boundaries and professional specialisms
  • Professional Development, facilitating the professional development of individuals in line with their career goals and organisational requirements

Knowledge, Experience and Technical Know How

  • Can successfully operate at ‘C’ level, forming strong relationships and engagement as needed across all levels of the Business Entity.
  • Has good leadership, relationship, communication, and presentation skills combined with a good track record of delivery.
  • Experience of strategic, investment and product planning ensuring alignment with business strategy and priorities
  • An excellent understanding of the business area within which they are operating
  • A good understanding of current and emerging product methods, agile methodologies, and trends
  • Experience of working within a heavily matrixed organisation, with the ability to drive for results
  • A good understanding of financial management, benefits management and realisation linked to business results.

What You'll Get

A competitive salary between £55,000 - £75,000 per annum– dependent on capability


As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
