About the role

 

National Grid Electricity Transmission’s (NGET) Innovation team plays a big part in delivering an affordable network that is safe, reliable and resilient, and is critical for decarbonising the UK economy through innovation. We work with innovators and stakeholders through the entire lifecycle of an innovation project, to anticipate the future needs for NGET. 

 

As Regulatory Innovation Lead, you’ll be responsible for regulatory compliance, financial management, performance management and programme oversight for our innovation portfolio of projects. 

 

You’ll ensure compliance with all regulatory and financial obligations for Network Innovation Allowance (NIA) and Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF) projects, and lead on engagement with trade bodies, our regulator and appointed auditors to ensure processes and systems managed by the team are appropriate for their requirements. 

 

Leading on external reporting, assurance and audit activities associated with regulatory innovation project funding, you’ll manage processes to ensure all projects are fully compliant with the transmission license. 

 

You’ll work closely with the innovation engineers and finance teams to manage the multimillion NIA budget, and you’ll also carry out programme management and performance reporting for the NIA portfolio of projects, producing and presenting financial and programme reporting information to ensure projects remain on track.

 

You’ll be based out of our offices in Warwick for 2 days per week, and this can be combined with hybrid working from home.

 


 

What you'll need

 

With demonstrable experience of leading reporting and assurance processes, coupled with the ability to develop lean governance processes, you’ll have financial experience including budgets and forecasting.

 

You’ll have experience in creating portfolio level reports for senior management and be proficient in programme and project management, including the use of project management tools and techniques.

 

With the ability to schedule work and deliver to tight deadlines, you’ll have excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting key portfolio information to senior management.

 

You’ll be able to demonstrate the ability to articulate the complex into the simple (both verbally and written) and be able to train team members on process, governance and compliance.  In addition, you’ll be proficient in contract management, and supplier engagement.

This role is offered as a fixed term contract of up to 12 months to cover maternity leave.
