About the role

 

National Grid Interconnectors is at the heart of UK’s transition to our net zero energy future. We operate a number of HVDC Interconnectors that connect the UK’s energy system to some of our closest neighbours, allowing energy to be imported to and exported from the UK.

 

As well as already owning a portfolio of HVDC Interconnectors, we’re working on developing new projects to ensure that we are able to meet the UK’s future demands for greener energy solutions.

 

We are currently recruiting for a Resilience Programme Manager within the UJV Operations team within National Grid.

 

Reporting to the Head of Resilience you will play a leading role in ensuring that our business has robust resilience plans in place and is able to respond to a wide range of events and challenges that may pose a risk to safety, our operations and our assets. By helping to improve resilience across our business you will be contributing to our mission of delivering high availability and reliability across our portfolio as we make a significant contribution the UK’s security of supply.

 

As a Resilience Programme Manager you will lead the delivery of a number of broad initiatives and provide guidance and support to other departments who are undertaking initiatives all designed to improve the overall resilience of the business.

 

You will also play a key role in supporting teams of Subject Matter Experts deliver their own resilience enhancing strategies, to cost and time, ensuring that benefits to the business are delivered as intended.

 

We’d hope to see you in the office and/or at one of our operational sites two days per week and you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you.

 

 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Programme Management: You will be responsible for a wide range of initiatives that shall be driven internally within the resilience team and business led. overall programme.

 

  • Risk Management: Work with all teams across the operational businesses to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with our critical energy infrastructure.

 

  • Preparedness Planning: Support the development of preparedness plans for all incidents with the potential to impact availability and reliability of the assets, ensuring that appropriate measures to enhance resilience are built into response and recovery strategies.

 

  • Incident Response: Following any incidents, you will take a lead in working with the business to understand whether appropriate resilience measures were in place and where lessons can be learned for implementation across the portfolio.

 

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop strategic relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to enhance IC reputation as an industry leader.

 

  • Industry Engagement: Accountable for defining lines to take across industry and industry engagement strategy (including but not limited to guidance on with who and when engagement should be aligned, managing and reporting on interactions, lobbying).

 

  • Innovation: Work with National Grid Partners and others to identify novel solutions and ways of work that could drive innovation across the business in order to enhance resilience and/or increase availability and reliability.

About you

 

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or equivalent with a considerable breadth and depth of proven experience in regulation and stakeholder management.

 

  • Significant experience working with senior stakeholders within a large organisation leading complex programmes of work, enabling project teams to operate innovatively, effectively and efficiently.

 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of leading and influencing large, devolved teams, and gaining support and commitment from a wider operational group.

 

  • Strong Stakeholder management experience, driving transformation and change across multiple departments, functions and external bodies.

 

  • Experience of effective management of consultancy and SMEs to coordinate cohesive deliverables and policies.

 

  • Experience of working with Cost Benefit Analysis tools and techniques to start and stop initiatives and areas of work.

 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, creating tangible content and analysis

 

 

What you'll get

 

A competitive salary between £70,000 - £81,000 – dependent on capability.
