About the role
This role forms part of the Strategic Infrastructure Offshore Engineering Team, responsible for supporting the delivery of national infrastructure that is integral Net Zero.
As Senior GIS Analyst you will manage the delivery of project and programme level GIS services. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including survey contractors, consultants, Project Managers and joint venture partners ensuring that data is stored and presented in a suitable manner for decisions to be made.
As Senior GIS Analyst will also have a large role to play in driving forward the development of standards and formats for data and meta-data, ensuring compatibility across the entire SI and wider NG data portfolio.
As Senior GIS Analyst you will be required to provide technical input and quality management across the portfolio of work and will be familiar with industry practices for the acquisition, storing and analyses of geospatial data from both internal and external sources.
The principal value created by this role is in the delivery of accurate and timely GIS products to allow for decision making, engineering and project planning, ensuring all stakeholders can be highly confident that the products and services provided will result in agreed outcomes
What you'll be doing
- Lead on the development and maintenance of robust geospatial databases, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and accessibility.
- Lead on the Development and implementation of GIS standards and procedures to ensure consistency and best practices across the organization.
- Design and set up data integrity and validation models within FME software to ensure data quality and reliability.
- Manage the creation and delivery of web maps, applications, dashboards, and mobile data collection solutions for individual projects.
- Apply advanced spatial analysis and modelling techniques to support critical decision-making processes
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on maximizing the potential of GIS tools and technologies by seamlessly integrating GIS systems and data into individual projects and wider portfolio management processes.
- Propose and support the introduction of innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Inspire and mentor junior GIS analysts, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous growth within the team.
What you'll need
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a GIS analyst
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or related field
- Experience with the ESRI Stack, particularly ESRI Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Online.
- Experience in the creation of captivating web maps, applications, dashboards, and mobile data collection solutions.
- Experience in the development and maintenance of robust geospatial databases.
- Experience in the development and implementation of GIS standards and procedures.
- Experience in the use of spatial analysis and modelling techniques to support critical decision-making processes.
- Experience with FME.
Desirable
- Experience with Workforce for ArcGIS
- Familiarity with ESRI CityEngine for 3D modelling.
- Knowledge of Unreal or Unity Gaming Engine development, enabling the creation of interactive and immersive geospatial experiences.
- Proficiency in Blender for artistic 3D representation and animation, enhancing visual storytelling capabilities.
