About the role


Due to continued growth and development of our current team we are looking for a Senior Procurement and Contract Lead within the Indirect Goods & Service Category

Working as a Senior Procurement and Contract Lead you will be responsible for developing, executing, and managing contracts within the Indirect Goods & Service Category. Working with Category Managers to deliver robust, value adding contractual partnering arrangements that prevent value loss and enable the delivery requirements of the business.


These are some of the key accountabilities we need this role to deliver:


•    Providing commercial leadership and expertise across a range of contracts
•    Developing detailed commercial understanding and value opportunities
•    Assessing contract risks and executing mitigation plans
•    Ownership and delivery of end-to-end strategic sourcing events within a portfolio.
•    Forming dynamic teams with stakeholders and Category Leads to drive the best possible solutions and execution of contracts
•    Building collaborative relationships with the supply chain and identifying new supply markets.
•    Scoping, delivering and executing robust fit for purpose contractual agreements. 
•    Managing the policies and processes for compliance and audit; ensuring delivery by suppliers and internal stakeholders of the policies and procedures


You will need to demonstrate creativity and commercial acumen, to identify opportunities to drive value and deliver the net zero ambition. This will include partnering with the business to secure supply and manage demand, working with the supply chain to drive innovation, exploring new markets and technologies, and driving sustainability and social value.

About you

We are looking for people who have the following attributes: 

•    Breadth and depth of contract management knowledge, including understanding key commercial, regulatory and economic drivers for driving greater value from contractual arrangements
•    Ability to analyse KPIs and contract data, to manage contract performance and support commercial decision making and summarise key messages for a senior audience
•    Strong track record of building external relationships to drive and deliver commercial value and to improve supplier performance in £multi-million contracts
•    Track record of building and enhancing business relationships with key internal stakeholders
•    Knowledge and use of cost modelling tools, techniques and principles.
•    Developing and managing assurance processes in a commercial environment, ensuring that risks are appropriately mitigated.
•    Experience in both decision making in commercial and/or technical roles that have positively impacted on business performance.
•    Experience in evaluating supplier capabilities to meet the UK business requirements.
•    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Comfortable communicating with impact to a wide cross section of the business including senior management.
•    Directing/Leading discussions/negotiations, steering agendas, challenging the status quo and effectively delivering difficult messages to parties inside and outside National Grid.

•    A competitive salary of between £45,000 - £50,000, dependent on capability and experience.

Location: As part of our hybrid working approach where colleagues work flexibly, these roles offer a mix of office working in Warwick and home working.


Role: Whilst this position is primarily full-time positions, we will consider part time applications as well as offer flexible working arrangements.  Working hours and travel expectations are dependent on role requirements.
