National Grid is hiring a Senior Programme Lead in Procurement. This position can be based at NG House, Warwick.

About The Role

 

At National Grid, we are committed to delivering energy safely and efficiently. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Programme Lead to join our Procurement team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping our procurement strategies and ensuring the successful delivery of projects that impact our business and the communities we serve.

 

As the Senior Programme Lead, you will report directly to the Procurement Programme Manager and be responsible for strategic procurement programme and project management within our aligned business areas. You will partner with Business Units (BUs) and Category Managers to create and deliver procurement programmes that meet our business needs. Your ability to engage and build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business and externally will be key to your success.

What You'll Do

 

  • Transform Business Needs: Translate business requirements into clear, actionable supply chain strategies by collaborating with stakeholders to understand and challenge demand.
  • Data Management: Collect, manage, and challenge BU workbook data related to goods and services, ensuring accurate forecasting and regulatory reporting with Ofgem.
  • Collaborative Planning: Work closely with Procurement Programme Managers and stakeholders to define overall programme/project delivery models, including materials strategy and commercial constructs.
  • Drive Project Success: Own programme plans, manage critical paths, and mitigate risks to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Performance Reporting: Roll up procurement performance metrics to support BU meetings and develop Programme KPIs to measure success.
  • Sourcing Strategy: Co-define sourcing strategies with category leads and provide input on vendor selection and contracting.
  • Risk Management: Assess and mitigate key procurement-related risks, fostering an environment for effective risk management.
  • Mentorship: Role model excellence in procurement standards and mentor colleagues to adopt best-in-class methodologies.

About You

 

  • Experience: Significant experience managing critical programmes within a supply chain or commercial context.
  • Project Management Knowledge: Enhanced understanding of project management principles, with evidence of programme management in matrix structures.
  • Relationship Building: Proven ability to forge strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Data Analytics Skills: Advanced data analytics capabilities to challenge large datasets, with experience in Power BI and Power Query preferred.
  • Commercial Acumen: Ability to build and manage complex commercial assessment models and experience in contract development, particularly in construction contracts (NEC desirable).
  • Regulatory Understanding: Familiarity with the regulatory environment and regulated procurement is desirable.

What You'll Get

 

  • Competitive Salary: circa £46,000 – £55,000 per annum (dependent on location, capability, and experience).

  • This role is offered on a full time permenant basis. 
     
  • We are also offering hybrid /flexible working where travel to the office will be as per business need. Base location for this role will be NG House, Warwick.
