About the role


National Grid IT team is currently seeking an innovative, adaptable, and results-oriented Solutions Engineering Manager to lead our Electricity Balancing Systems Engineering team within our IT ESO Delivery Team based in Warwick.  



The Solutions Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading a team of software engineers, business analysts, solution architects, and scrum masters who plan, design, develop, test, and deploy applications for IT projects - defining performance objectives and development plans for team members whilst ensuring alignment with department objectives. 



As a talented Solutions Engineering Manager, you will manage dedicated software professionals that incorporate customer-centric design thinking practices and standard Waterfall & Agile/Lean software development methodologies.  Successfully shape and deliver a range of complex and challenging programs to deliver business value; utilising all available resources and relationships Managing dependencies, risks, plans, costs and resourcing needs across multiple programs.

About you


Successful candidates for Solutions Engineering Manager, will have:  

  • Extensive experience in a software Engineering leadership role
  • Demonstrable experience of leading complex software development teams as part of a large multi-year, business-critical technology program. 
  • In-depth understanding of cloud-native architectures, microservices, and open API’s, 
  • Thorough understanding of Agile software delivery models (Kanban, Scrum, SAFe). 
  • Strong experience of proactively engaging with wider IT teams to promote process and organisational improvements that enhance overall effectiveness and prepare and present programme-level communications for executives and stakeholders. 

Technically, you will have: 

  • Unrivalled knowledge of SDLC methodologies, requirements, design, development and test tools
  • Sound experience in managing/using DevOps Tools, such as Jira, Confluence, BitBuck, Jenkins, Sonarqube, JFrog, Ansible to name a few. 

What you get


A competitive salary of between £62,000 - £78,000per annum.  


As well as your base salary, you will receive a company car or allowance, a bonus of up to 20% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
