The Transformation Portfolio Manager will play a critical role working within the Electricity Transmission Transformation Office to shape, define and support delivery of a portfolio of business transformation initiatives to enable the ET business to scale and grow materially to deliver it’s part of the net zero energy transition in the UK. Working closely with leaders and stakeholders across ET to Develop and evolve the ‘end state vision’ with our ‘Transformational shifts’ to identify the critical organisational and business changes needed to build the net zero network and shape clear future states outlining where we need to be by 2030 and beyond
National Grid is hiring a Transformation Portfolio Manager for our Electricity Transmission Transformation Office. This is a hybrid role which requires you to be in Warwick 1-2 times a week.
Key Accountabilities
- Create a short (to FY26) and long term (2030+) Transformation roadmaps to support overall ET Transformation for sign off by Director of ET Transformation and ET Exec
- Define outcomes and constraints that ET Transformation should work with and deliver
- Ensure needs cases and business cases are developed effectively and prioritised against and outcomes to develop a Transformation portfolio that delivers strategic objectives, but also drives a volume of change that can be absorbed by the business
- Manage the 90-day planning cycle for the Transformation and associated change to the Transformation Portfolio through tracking and reporting the performance of the ET Transformation portfolio and its programmes and projects to ET Exec and Delivery Unit Directors
- Drive cultural and behavioural change in the business to take an ET wide view on change delivery and the businesses ability to absorb change
- Proactive identification of interdependencies across the ET Transformation, both within and between Transformation Programmes and communicating to those involved to ensure interdependencies are effectively managed
- Setting the standards and aligning with National Grid best practice for and delivering; business case & needs case writing, benefits management, scoping, scheduling & planning, programme & project governance, programme & project financial management, RAID management and resource management based on the programme and change management framework (Key principles of the BMS standard and framework)
About You
Interpersonal, Supervisory or Management experience
⦁ Experience working with senior business stakeholders to influence decision making around defining and / or managing a portfolio of change
⦁ Experience of building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
⦁ Experience of supervision, line management/ matrix team management
⦁ Able to work across workstreams and delivery units, builds relationships with key stakeholders and can identify and confidently address divergent or duplicate activities across portfolios
⦁ Passionate about successful delivery of business transformation, an advocate of change and able to influence stakeholders in the importance of business change and portfolio management
Technical or Specialist skills
⦁ Understands and has practical experience of portfolio management and prioritisation, change management and change governance
⦁ Experience of delivering business change activities as part of a major change and transformation programme, familiar with NG Change Business Management Standard, Change Delivery framework
⦁ Understanding of Programme, Project management and range of change delivery approaches
⦁ Experience in business planning and Financial and/or management accounting skills and/or experience
⦁ Practical experience delivering PMO services across a change portfolio – which will include business case writing, scoping, scheduling, planning, risk management (RAID), programme financial management and reporting, resource management, vendor management and portfolio/ programme governance

A competitive salary between £65,000 - £75,000 – dependent on capability
