Job Purpose

We are delighted to recruit a new team member to join our talented CNI (Critical National Infrastructure) team. This is an exciting time to join National Grid’s digital transformation journey and be part of an organisation committed to deliver green and affordable energy for all. This position will be based at Wokingham with a hybrid work pattern, consisting of a mix of office and home-based working.

This newly created role reports directly to the Head of UK CNI I&O (Infrastructure and Operations) as part of the Global Technology Operations Team, which will provide a great opportunity for learning and career development.As our new CNI Infrastructure Manager you will have line management of members of the CNI Infrastructure team who provide 24x7 Infrastructure Support to the CNI systems which are key to the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the Electricity Transmission and System Operation across the UK. Your main focus will be to manage your team ensuring all OKRs and priorities are communicated, understood and tracked with feedback and support given. Reporting team metrics upwards and out to stakeholders, business units and senior management within the Digital Technology organisation.
 

Key Accountabilities

In addition, you will be responsible across the following areas:


-    Resource planning and prioritisation of multiple IT engineers across various projects and tasks driven from within CNI and across National Grid
-    Leading the team to deliver data for governance and compliance as well as internal and external audit actions against time bound targets
-    Acting as delegated authority for peers and Head of CNI as required
-    Driving improvement in working practise and process within the support teams
-    Ensuring we are upholding the National Grid values to ‘Do the Right Thing, Find a Better Way & Make It Happen’, giving the best possible outcome for the business and UK energy systems

 

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic team member with a good understanding of the overall requirements necessary to support critical systems and particularly CNI Systems. You will have and be able to demonstrate a strong senior managerial background with proficiency in analytical, decision making, and strategic planning. Capable of problem solving when under pressure as well as a clear knowledge of the IT support models in an ITIL based CNI domain, have excellent communication in both verbal and written forms. Strong skills in team working, capability to share knowledge and leading others to high performance. Flexibility to travel across the UK as needed to manage teams in the various CNI locations.
Process experience or knowledge of the following would be an advantage:
-    Governance and IT controls
-    Risk management framework
-    Resource and capacity planning
-    Budget management and forecasting
-    ITIL
-    Data gathering, analysis and reporting

In addition to your base salary of between £60,000 - £70,000 , you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.

Role Requirement

Due to the sensitive nature of this role, if your application is successful, you will be required to undergo National Security Vetting in addition to the standard background checks National Grid carry out. As part of these security checks, you will need to evidence that you have resided in the UK for the last 5 years.
