Market Outlook Manager - ESO

About The Role
This is a new technical leader role within the ESO. In the role of Market Outlook Manager, you will build and develop a new team that will be responsible for leading delivery of market fundamentals analysis across power and gas markets that is used to support season-ahead preparations (up to around 1 year ahead) and operational decision-making (e.g., week-ahead to day-ahead) in the ESO, with a particular focus on energy security of supply. This team will also be responsible for leading on the production of the Summer and Winter Outlook Reports.
This role will be based in Wokingham. We continue to offer hybrid working from office and home. This is a full-time role, and we offer flexible working arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development and delivery of market fundamentals analysis across GB power, European power and global gas markets
- Derive and provide timely insight to support ESO operational modelling and decision-making covering season-ahead preparations through to week-ahead / day-ahead with a particular focus on risks to energy security of supply
- Communicate key messages effectively to a range of senior and energy industry stakeholders, including Government and Ofgem
- Support the ESO’s external engagement activities including leading the delivery of the ESO’s Summer and Winter Outlook Reports
- Build, coach and develop a small analytical team of 3
About You
We would be interested in hearing from you if you have skills or experience in some of the following:
- Deep understanding of market fundamentals of power generation economics, global gas markets and carbon emissions trading
- Strong knowledge of both GB and European power markets, particularly France, Germany, Ireland and Nordic markets
- Previous experience in related roles e.g., energy trading including portfolio optimisation, modelling electricity market fundamentals would be highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to derive insight quickly from multiple sources of information and communicate complex ideas to a range of audiences
- Proven track record of building and sustaining effective business relationships with a broad range of stakeholders
- Building and leading analytical teams

What You'll Get
This role offers a competitive salary between £60,000 - £70,000 per annum dependent on capability. As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
