Supported Interns

Are you aged 16 – 24, have an education, health and care plan (EHCP) and want to get a paid job but need a little more support to become ‘work ready’?

Our Supported Internship is an unpaid, work-based study programme which supports individuals who are neurodiverse and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).

At National Energy System Operator, our Supported Internship offers the opportunity to do most of your learning at work, in either our Warwick office or our Wokingham office, along with some learning at college. It will give you experience of a real-life work environment and help you to develop your skills to prepare you for work. The programme follows the academic year and because it is classed as education, any benefits you receive are not affected during the time you are enrolled.

You will be supported by a Job Coach to help you achieve your potential and will be surrounded by a dedicated team that care about you and your fellow Interns.

Your Job Coach will break down tasks so that you can learn the jobs, work with you to increase your confidence and support you to build the skills needed to get a paid job.
