As an Industry Code Frameworks Manager, you will lead and deliver the code administration and governance activity on behalf of the NESO. Facilitating industry change through administering, transparent and open code change processes for the CUSC, Grid Code, STC and SQSS.
Acting as an industry expert in code governance and being a key interface with internal and external stakeholders, championing new ways of facilitating industry change, ensuring compliance to the maintenance of the code change process is adhered to at all times.
This role can be based from Wokingham, Warwick or Glasgow and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home. We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.

• Has significant and extensive commercial and/or regulatory experience in the energy industry, especially in code and the licence obligations.
• Able to demonstrate technical understanding of the main strategic challenges impacting the electricity industry.
• Strong interpersonal skills (particularly in an external environment) in the areas of influencing, negotiating and building effective working relationships at a senior level in external organisations.
• Effective at creating the future, influencing and working effectively across the NESO organisation.
• Proven previous experience in dealing with Ofgem / DESNZ / Customers and/or other industry bodies.

About the National Energy System Operator (NESO)
In Autumn of 2024, the ESO transitioned to National Energy System Operator, or NESO for short. Previously denoted as the Future System Operator (or FSO), the new National Energy System Operator is the independent body responsible for planning Great Britain’s electricity and gas networks and operating the electricity system.
The ESO, including all of its existing roles, are now at the heart of the new National Energy System Operator. As NESO, we will build on our existing roles, capabilities, and ways of working significantly to create an organisation the energy system and its users’ need. Our new capabilities will enable us to look across vectors, including electricity, natural gas and hydrogen, and crucially consider the trade-offs between them.
The organisation is set up as a public corporation with its own Board of independent directors, with complete operational independence from government, the regulator and any and all commercial interest. As was the ESO, NESO will be licenced and regulated by Ofgem through price control agreements and obligated to identify optimal solutions to system operations and planning in the most sustainable, affordable and secure way for all.

What you'll get
A competitive salary between £65000- £75000 p.a. – dependent on experience and capability.

Key Accountabilities
- Provide horizon scanning of commercial policy developments, understanding impacts on the commercial regime through engagement with the wider business / customers and stakeholders.
- Lead on, and be accountable for, National GridâÂÂs input into, National Grid and industry-raised regulatory modifications, including negotiating with, and influencing, internal and external stakeholders to ensure buy in to such proposals.
- Co-ordinate and drive the implementation required by any of the above modifications by retaining accountability for implementation.
- Lead the debate on the future of commercial strategy and customer policies.
- Lead necessary external engagement with our Customers and Stakeholders through development of tactical engagement / influencing plans.
- Drive timely resolution of strategic customer and stakeholder driven market changes and customer policies required as a result of changing legislation, government policy etc - Ensure that external Statements and audits are delivered on time and to required quality.
- Provide necessary regulatory, technical and commercial input to industry workgroups and working groups.
