NESO are now looking for a Business Planning Manager within our Digital Data & Technology (DD&T) function. This exciting opportunity exists within the Legal & Regulatory team inside DD&T. The role will enable the post holder to hold a crucial role in coordinating, shaping, and managing content development for the NESO business plan working closely with internal stakeholders from across the business. The business plan is an important publication that many industry stakeholders will read and use to make decisions. Therefore, this role is a fantastic opportunity to help communicate the direction and strategy for NESO, at a time of unprecedented change.

This role can be based from Wokingham or Warwick, and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home.
Key Accountabilities
- Coordinate and manage the development of regulatory business plans, ensuring alignment with NESO's strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Shaping and managing content development for the business plan, working closely with internal stakeholders from across DD&T, including review and challenge of content to ensure it meets key stakeholder expectations
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Ofgem, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Provide expert regulatory support to the business, helping to maximise benefits for end consumers and Great Britain.
- Monitor and report on the progress of business plan implementation, identifying and addressing any issues or risks.
- Develop and deliver presentations and reports to senior management and other stakeholders, clearly communicating the direction and strategy for NESO.
About You

- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and requirements within the energy sector
- Proven experience in business planning and project management, preferably within a regulatory or legal environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders both internal and external
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions
- Experience in working from within, or closely with an IT / Technology delivery environment

A competitive salary of £65,000 to £75,000 – dependent on experience and capability.

About the National Energy System Operator (NESO)
In Autumn of 2024, the ESO transitioned to National Energy System Operator, or NESO for short. Previously denoted as the Future System Operator (or FSO), the new National Energy System Operator is the independent body responsible for planning Great Britain’s electricity and gas networks and operating the electricity system.
The ESO, including all of its existing roles, are now at the heart of the new National Energy System Operator. As NESO, we will build on our existing roles, capabilities, and ways of working significantly to create an organisation the energy system and its users’ need. Our new capabilities will enable us to look across vectors, including electricity, natural gas and hydrogen, and crucially consider the trade-offs between them.
The organisation is set up as a public corporation with its own Board of independent directors, with complete operational independence from government, the regulator and any and all commercial interest. As was the ESO, NESO will be licenced and regulated by Ofgem through price control agreements and obligated to identify optimal solutions to system operations and planning in the most sustainable, affordable and secure way for all.
