Which apprenticeship is right for you?
Whichever one of National Grid's apprenticeship routes you decide to take, you'll be choosing to start your career with us. You'll be splitting your week between your place of work and your place of study.
We will cover your course fees, worth approximately £20,000, and you'll earn a salary. At the end of each apprenticeship, you will complete an assessment, which tests both academic learning and occupational competence developed through on-the-job training.

As a National Grid Apprentice, you’ll be part of an organisation that has ambitious, world-changing plans for the future – and you’ll be well rewarded for playing your part. From a Level 3 qualification worth approximately £20,000, to world-class opportunities for training and development, working here comes with some incredible perks.

Qualifications Achieved
- Substation or Overhead Line Craftsperson, Electricity Transmission & Operations Apprentice, LNG – Level 3 Power Network Craftperson Apprenticeship & a technical qualification in City & Guilds 2339-45 Diploma in Electrical Power Engineering - Distribution and Transmisson
- Mechanical Technician, Gas Transmission – BTEC Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Level 3 & HNC Mechanical Engineering
